Dearest event planner,
This is the second edition of our 3, 2, 1 GO emails, and once again, I’m in your inbox with joy to tackle another vital question:
"How do I maximize my Google My Business profile?"
You should know, Google My Business is a multifaceted tool. But fear not, you should trust me to still deliver a perfect solution for you.
As event planners, your Google My Business Profile is a powerful tool to attract clients and showcase your business.
Let's envision this together for a minute…
Think about a soon-to-be bride, searching for "event planners near me" or “event planners in Lagos” at 2 AM. Who will catch her eye?
Those who already have an optimized Google My Business of course. And that means YOU. But only if you've actually dressed your Google My Business profile to slay and impress.
So, here are 3 IDEAS on how you can maximize your Google My Business profile. Shall we?
- Add high-quality photos of your best works, your team, and your venue setups: It’s your chance to brag. Make your description solution oriented, directed to your clients and should sing your praises. Use keywords that your potential clients might search for. This not only helps your profile look professional but also improves your search rankings. Your Google My Business profile should be as stunning as your events. Most importantly, GET REVIEWS. A Google My Business Profile with little to no reviews is not well optimized and we don’t want that. You shouldn’t shy away from sending your profile links to your clients for reviews after a job well done.
- Post Regular Updates: Treat your GMB profile like a mini-social media page. You have the opportunity to post updates about your latest events, special offers, or any new services you’re offering. Not only does this keep your profile active but it’s a great way to show off your latest work and attract attention. And it shows you’re at the top of your game.
- Respond to reviews and messages promptly: Thank those who leave positive reviews and address any concerns raised in negative ones. Don’t run from them. Show that you care about your clients’ feedback and you are truly dedicated to providing an excellent service.
Now, let’s talk about 2 THINGS you should always note about your Google My Business:
1.Encourage Reviews: You are in control of your business and shouldn’t shy away from asking for reviews and feedback from your clients. If not, how else would the world know about your expertise?
Always send your clients the link to your Google My Business profile and encourage them to write a review.
See!… I want you to consider reviews to be gold. A client can contact you just because of a review… You don't believe me?
Then you should check out this testimony from Precious Loko.
A simple follow-up email after an event asking for a review can go a long way. A word is enough for a wise event planner… I hope that's you.
Plus…
BRANDUP 2.0 kickstarts 12th August 2024 - yes we moved the date around because your girl is currently on a break.
But I'll be right back on time for BRANDUP 2.0. So if you're that event planner who wants me to hold her hand as you figure out this online presence thing for 30 consecutive days, you want to sign up for BRANDUP 2.0 over here.
2. Always take note of your analytics and reports: Google My Business always provides valuable insights into how people are finding and interacting with your profile.
You can see an example of such report we received for Rightessential event here…
Now your own work is to use this data to understand what’s working and what needs improvement. Analytics are there so you can adjust your strategies and improve your Google My Business presence.
But after that has been said and done,
Remember that maximizing your Google My Business profile won’t bring instant results. We’re not doing magic here. But with consistency and effort, you’ll see your online presence grow.
